Dear Net Surfers,
Dear musicians,
I wish you
the welcome on www.note4piano.com, musical bookshop online,
and last creation of the Editions Bourgès R.
My adventure with the “Net” began in 1999, with
the creation of the www.ebr.com.fr site. At that time,
it was only
a question
of creating a catalogue with visual and sound effects for
my Editions. Very quickly, the request of my visitors led
me to
develop the direct
and protected sale (2001).
My initiative was criticized at that time (I wasn't authorized
to present the website at the Salon de la Musique de Paris,
...),
but nowadays all the editors have a website.
After the success of the www.ebr.com.fr site, the editions, in 2004,
proposed 2 other spaces: www.yvonne-sanchez.com (the official website
of the Czech singer Yvonne Sanchez) and www.lapetiteboutiquederemi.com
(the website of the youth category of the Editions).
Pre-empting the evolution of the world of the partition
and a possible crisis, it became essential for me, to create
a musical bookshop online. As for the world of the book
(increase
in the
total sales, reduction in the number of bookshops in
spite of the law Lang) the partition of music is likely
to know
the monopoly (as well on the level creation as its marketing)
of the
Majors
who hold a large part of works and prepare their digitalization,
or of some financial groups on the “Net” (the
equivalent of Amazon/Fnac).
To launch www.note4piano.com, I helped myself with a few hot
lines:
- gather an experienced team and also constituted by musicians,
with a good knowledge of the world of the edition and its specificities.
-
To select the works and other articles once there are referenced,
by their contents and their availability: to put strait online
the computer files of the catalogues of the editors is easy (we have
250.000 approximately references). But these files are still
incomplete
and contain a number of inalienable, obsolete sheet music or
of bad quality.
- To only offer with posting the products with a complete description
and content.
- To make all the references accessible by our search
engine. A large work has been done for that, after we compared
the already
preexisting engines.
- To respect the prices (“advised public prices”)
of the editors.
- To be the most competitive on the carriage costs, competitiveness
possible by synergy with the logistics of the Editions.
- To propose
cultural works, CD’s, DVD’s and other articles
around the sheet music.
It's also important to me to add
that the sheet music suggested online were entirely re-engraved,
with
the same quality
and the same care granted to those of my editions: they
are originals, and not scanned sheet music.
I remain, with my team, open to any of your
remarks, and thank you by advance for the interest you will
have for our work.
I hope this space will become yours, please receive my most musical
greetings.
Patrice
Bourgès.
